My school, The Schram Academy celebrated its Annual Day for the Academic Year 2015-16
on the 30th of April 2016 at Kamarajar Arangam, Teynampet, Chennai. I also participated in the Cultural Program of the Day. I was given the Gold Medal for General Proficiency for std 6 A (This is the 6th time in a row I am receiving General Proficiency from school) and a Trophy for Special Achievement in Art (again 5th trophy for achievements in Art from TSA).
In the Cultural Program, I participated in the Invocation Dance, a Fusion Dance of Bharathanatyam, Odissi and Kathak. I was there in the Bharathanatyam part. Let me introduce my friends who danced with me- In the Bharathanatyam part were: Divya Maya, Tara, Lathika and me. In the Odissi part: Meera Shaji, Kavya and Rhea Nair. And in Kathak: Prarthana, Sreya, Ekta and Libikaa. The teachers who choreographed the dance and encouraged us to dance well were Bindu Mam and Anila Mam.
I was given a Gold Medal for General Proficiency by the School Principal,J.Jaibala mam and a certificate. The Special Achievement Award was given by the School Founder, Dr. Schram. Then the Invocation Dance started. We were a bit tensed and I was even more tensed because I was supposed to enter the stage first.But still we gained confidence and the music started.
I entered the stage and slowly we started dancing. We all remembered what our teachers had said to us to be careful and do all our steps correctly. We all danced well and got lots of applauds when we did our last pose. When we went backstage, we all did a Hi-Fi and our teachers were extremely happy that we all did really well. Everyone was so happy.
Then we went to watch the other dances and skits and songs. All the programs were nice and we all sang the National Anthem. I felt extremely happy that I did well and I am sure I will never forget this awesome Invocation Dance of our school’s 16th Annual Day 2015-16 done by the students of classes 6th to 8th of the Maduravoyal campus.
