Indrani, also known as Shachi or Aindri is the Shakthi of Indra, the King of Devas. Indrani is known for her heavenly beauty. According to the Devi Mahatmyam, when the Devas could not defeat the powerful demons Shumbha and Nishumbha, their Shaktis (power) personified themselves to defeat the demon and Indrani emerged from Indra. She has characteristics similar to Indra.
Indrani has four arms and she carries the Vajra and a Sakthi (Spear). The other two hands has Varada and Abhaya mudras. Her complexion is Red. Indrani wears a Kirita Makuta and is ornamented with various beautiful jewels. Her vahana as well as the emblem of her banner is the Elephant. Indrani is usually worshipped along with Indra and is rarely worshipped as an independent deity.
