I’ve always liked the character of Rukmini and her story in the Mahabharata. Being a fan of Rukmini’s song, “Binati Suniye” sung by Shri Sadhna Sargam in the B.R. Chopra “Mahabharat” historic T.V. serial, which sings the words which Rukmini put in her letter to Shri Krishna to come and rescue her, I’d planned long back to paint a lovelorn Rukmini writing to her beloved Krishna. ❤️

In this painting, I’ve depicted Rukmini writing her letter to Krishna, sitting beside the window. As she writes in desperation, Rukmini sees Krishna in everything around her, in the clouds surrounding the full moon, in the flames of the lamps and on the windowsill. Krishna’s omnipresence thus, calms her down and she continues to write her letter with hope that her Lord will heed her request and take her away with Him.❤️
