Day 7 : Bhagavathy of Attukal🙏🏻
Attukalamma resides in the Attukal Bhagavathy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Attukal Temple is popularly known as the Sabarimala of the Women, because women form the major portion of devotees.
Attukal Bhagavathy is also believed to be the divinised form of Kannagi, the famous heroine of Silapadhigaaram, written by Ilango Adigal, the Tamil Poet.
In this kshetram, Bhagavathy is a calm form of Bhadrakali mounted on a vethalam. Devotees believe that all of their wishes will be fulfilled by the goddess, provide prosperity and can attain salvation.
The temple is renowned for the annual Attukal Pongala festival, in which over three million women participate in a grand manner.
