✨Bāla Murugan✨ : BĀLA SERIES-2❤️

Kutti Guhan is my first ever painting of Lord Muruga! Totally loved painting this cute version of Thamizh Kadavul Kandhan❤️

For context:
Lord Muruga is the Warrior God, younger son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and brother to Lord Ganesha. Known by various names such as Skandha, Karthikeya, Guha, Subrahmanya, Velava, Shanmukha and so on, He is the slayer of Surapadman and the one who mounts the peacock.
There are so many legends and stories that feature Lord Muruga that have been depicted in our culture, and one of them is the episode where He is born as six babies and are raised by the Karthigai maidens.

An adorable toddler, who wears the thandai and salangai and waddles around with His tiny steps, He mesmerises everyone around with His honey-sweet words and giggles! The Karthigai maidens pamper Him by smearing sandalwood paste on His arms and apply a thilakam of red sandalwood on His forehead.

(This is inspired partly by the lyrics of “Thandai Muzhanga”, a close-to-heart shabdham I learnt for my first solo dance performance❤️)
More to come in the Bāla Series! Stay tuned❤️
