✨ Sri Vishnumaya Chathan Swami ✨
Vishnumaya Chathan is a very popular deity in Kerala, the head temple being Avanangattilkalari Sri Vishnumaya Temple or Avanangattu Chathan Temple in Thrissur, Kerala. The son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and raised by the forest maiden Koolivaka, He slayed the asuras Jalandhara and Briga. He mounts a buffalo and holds a ‘Kuruvadi’ (stick) and an Amrutha Kumbham (nectar pot). The name ‘Vishnumaya’ was attributed to Chathan by His parents Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, when He assumed the form of Lord Vishnu, using his ‘Maya’ to enter Kailasam, tricking Nandi who wouldn’t allow His hunter form on a buffalo.
Worshipping Vishnumaya Swami is believed to grant all desires. Born for protection in every yuga, praying to Vishnumaya Swami is the only way to endure the negative repercussions in this Kali Yugam.
