Margazhi maasam starts today, here is a digital recreation of my first ever Thiruppavai painting done in 2021! ♥️

Based on the first pasuram, I have tried to portray Kodhai Devi going to take her ritual bath to worship Lord Narayana, who wields a sharp spear to kill His enemies. This happens under the moonlight in the rich town of Ayarpadi. She invites her friends too to join her and sing the praise of the darling son of Yashoda and Nandagopan!💖

Thiruppavai Pasuram 1:

Margazhi thingal madhi niraindha nannalal

Nirada podhuvir, podhu mino neridaiyeer

Seermalgum aayppadi chelva chirumeergal

Koorvel kodunthozhilan nandagopan kumaran

Erarndha kannni yasodhai ilan singam

Karmeni chengann kadir madiyam pol mugathan

Narayanane namakke parai tharuvan

Paror pugazha padinthelor empavai.

English Meaning :

On this full moon day this Month of Margazhi

All ye who set out to bathe the holy bath

the young girls of the prosperous Ayarpadi town

the son of Nandagopan who wields a cruel sharp spear

the young lion cub of Yashoda with the beautiful eyes

the black hued, red eyed Lord who shines like the mid day Sun

It’s only that Narayana who will give us boons

Let us join with the world in praising his glory, Girls.
